Image-X becomes first printer in Canada to purchase Agfa Graphics’ newest LED engine – the Jeti Mira LED

Image-X (St. Laurent, Quebec), a leading Quebec digital and large-format print service provider, recently installed the first Agfa Jeti Mira 2716 HS with Primer and RTR (Roll-To-Roll) in Canada. The Jeti Mira features six colours plus white and two rows of fast-firing Ricoh inkjet printheads for higher productivity, as well as a moving gantry for precision printing. It utilizes the latest UV LED curing technology to bring exceptional print quality to mid-end and high-end sign and display printers. The Jeti Mira can output up to 2.69 m-wide prints, includes print-and-prepare functionality, a dockable roll-to-roll option, two table versions, speeds up to 231 m²/hr, six colours, white as standard, and highly-pigmented UV inks. This latest upgrade also includes UV LED curing technology, which results in significant advantages. LEDs have minimal heat output which allows for a broader scope of print applications. They also ensure very stable bi-directional calibration, high productivity, significant power savings and consistent output over the lifetime of the system. This all leads to a greater ROI. Relying on its LED technology, specially formulated UV LED inks can print on heat-sensitive substrates such as thin slides, self-adhesive sheets and stretchable PVC materials. The Agfa-made UV inks also have a wide colour gamut and high colour vibrancy in both indoor and outdoor applications, while their high pigment load and Asanti’s colour management optimization ensure low ink consumption. The Jeti Mira also also adds 3D lens printing technology. Using a combination of printed lenses composed of UV-curable varnish and image manipulations, the Jeti Mira can add depth to prints by tuning the size of varnish lenses and the array in which they’re printed.
